Task 2

The Non-Profit organisation that I chose which in my opinion is ideal is Repubblika. Repubblika is an ngo that works in favour of stabilizing the civil society movement with the aim of having fair human rights and better democracy in Malta. This organisation aim is also to promote different rights such as the democratic life, rule of law, free speech, good sustainabilty in the economy and different social iniatives. Repubblika normally fights corruption occuring from both sides of the maltese political parties. They search into detail ongoing investigations such as the Pilatus bank allegations were it is being stated that documents are being held in the MFSA safe. Most of the times, Repubblika’s president Robert Aquilina makes his statement infront of the Justice Court in Valleta in the early hours in the morning. Recent media statements from Aquilina were about the constitutional case about magistrate Nadine Lia to be removed immediately from the case after allegations about her that she had connections towards this hot case. Also as an Non Profit Organisation, they organise events such as protests , talks and discussions about any events that happened or are happening in the country. They communicate through various social media platforms such as facebook and twitter as those are two of the most followed platforms in Malta.

An event that gained media attention and was talked about in the country was the protest in front of the Maltese parliament concering Former Labour parliament member Rosianne Cutajar and the speaker of the house Anglu Farrugia. They are saying that Farrugia defended an MP that was found guilty by the Standards Commissioner and the Parliamentary Standards. Repubblika are also saying that Cutajar took cash and gifts from a person that was investigated as part of the murder of the journlist Daphne Caruana Galizia. For this organisation to promote their protests and other media briefing, they had to use different communication setups.

One of these communication setups is media management. Media management is seen as the indefinite amount of practices where any political actors aim to take control of their media houses that correlate with the media organisation political beliefs or try to exploit other media houses that are basically neutral on their agenda. Politicans in the past and also these days tend to convince the nation that what they are doing is always right and try to put this type of agenda in the people’s mind so that they can have these people by their side if they are in a sort of conflicts or investigations directed againstly towards them.

Image Management is another way of communication for politicians to seek their interests on the public eye. A greater concern with image—both the individual image of politicians and the brand culture of the party accompanies the presentation by politicians of organized news stories with the goal of increasing favorable media coverage. Politicians these days are evaluated not just on their actions and words but also about the way they transmit their message in a way that is appealing for the nation. For fact, political approach now has a similar weight to that of policy. Some might contend that these points have consistently been a crucial element in political success. After World War II, the way of the transmission of the message has been the main focus of the political process, with television starting to become the most dominate mass medium. In Britian it was also said that the personality of a person is now more focuses on the personality in order to identify a person’s credibility.  A good example where clearly shows that image really matters is when former Margaret Thatcher advisor Brendan Bruce focused his desire’s on Thetcher such as clothes, make up, hair where all these small things convey’s a good politician.

Repubblika leader’s such as Robert Aquilina and Alessandra Dee Crespo are always pinpoint when it comes to image management. Normally , their press releases are always  on time in the early days of the week. Aquilina’s attire normally is a blue smart suit which shows the he is good politician and he always makes his research before accusing or opening a libell against someone. The vice president Dee Crespo is also similar to Aquilina where she normally accompanies him with his press releases or statements, and her look in front of the camera is normally smart that indicates that she is a good politician.

Repubblika utilizes internal and external communications from political parties in Malta and throughout the world as an NGO. For an organization to effectively convey its message, internal communication is crucial. For their members to hear the message and for public affairs to collaborate effectively, organizations that utilize commercial as part of their strategy must establish several forms of communication. When a person enters politics, their personal image is very significant. Another instance of a poorly constructed public image may be seen in the 1983 labor campaign, where the public presentation strategy lacked organization and preparation. That’s why in this case, preparation has to be of a top level in order to have a strong presentation when addressing to the public. Normally when talking about internal political communication, Repubblika’s President Robert Aquilina always have everything in place to address the nation including a copy of a case that he is investigating and a long speech which explains everything associated with it. As already stated , Repubblika make a very good use of external communication as it is the best way for them to inform the public. Advertising on their social media platforms, News releases (sometimes working with news portals), conferences and engaging with the public are all a good source of external communication. They believe that this is the proper way to feed the audience out there.

Repubblika talks about several court cases on Facebook and Twitter, including the murder of Daphne Caruana, that has numerous people connected to it. In recent years, they have been tweeting about her memory, particularly from their vice president Alessandra Dee Crespo. In the recent weeks, people have been posting on social media about the anniversary of her passing, with significant captions like "62 months after her death" and the word JUSTICE predominating. Repubblika always posts about these kinds of activities on their social media accounts when their people gather in front of the parliament and cross Republic Street as a part of the remembrance. Their goal is to leverage their acts and make a good use of the new media, which obviously includes social media, to reach more people.

Speaking of social media posts, Repubblika's content includes a variety of things, including protests and events. When planning a demonstration, they set up a virtual poll on their page to let the public know where and when to gather in a certain location. As events for example talks or open discussions, they post the place and time and ask for the particulars of the person , in order to create a safe environment for everyone. After holding the demonstration, they share pictures and videos of it online, along with an explanation of how it started and its major goals. In an effort to increase the article's audience, they also share content on their social media regarding pieces that were published for other news websites. The main postings and engagements are when they release a statement in response to news alleging discrimination or corruption and demand that investigations should be carried out right away so that everyone can understand exactly what is going on behind these accusations.

When it comes to interviews, Robert Aquilina, the president, typically makes an appearance on behalf of the organization Repubblika. When questioned about ongoing cases from the past and the present, Aquilina typically responds by explaining why they initiated a libel lawsuit against someone or why they want specific people to be investigated for corruption and prejudice. As previously mentioned, Alessandra Dee Crespo, vice president of Repubblika, does not typically appear for interviews with news portals. Instead than doing interviews, she writes about people's voices and ideas in her own Times Of Malta column with the idea that the message is being transmitted to the public. The majority of her posts are about Daphne Caruana Galizia, how they still want justice, and how the community of activists should be more vocal.

It is organized as an organigram with a variety of roles. As was already said, Robert Aquilina serves as the organization's president. Alessandra Dee Crespo serves as vice president, Sammi Davis serves as secretary general, and Paula Fleri-Soler serves as treasurer. Repubblika's organizational structure consists of seven people, with Manuel Delia serving as the Executive Officer. Since they are the ones who plan all the main events, they all have a tremendous impact on Repubblika. They organize everything in their office in the southern part of Malta in accordance with their political ideas. Because these kinds of things are so important to activists, banners and posters are everywhere on their propertyAdditionally, when a controversial issue involving a politician is in the news, Repubblika evaluates the entire case from beginning to end so that they are prepared to talk and post in public. This is how they interact with society since, for them as an NGO, the target audience is everything.
